On a dark and stormy night, with the wind howling strong,
Little Marcie and Hinckley knew something was wrong.
In their small, cozy town where the shadows grew tall,
A robber was lurking, they'd heard from them all.
Marcie, so brave, with her hair straight and fair,
Loved stories of night and the strange things out there.
Hinckley, her friend, was adventurous and bold,
Together they'd face what the darkness might hold.
The wind whispered secrets through cracks in the door,
While leaves scraped the windows and danced on the floor.
"Let's find that robber," Marcie whispered with glee,
"And see what he's up to, wherever he be."
With flashlights in hand and their hearts beating fast,
They ventured outside where the shadows were cast.
The moonlight was dim, and the trees seemed to sway,
As they crept down the path where the robber might lay.
Through the forest they wandered, with eyes open wide,
Their steps softly crunching as they moved side by side.
Suddenly, Hinckley saw a flicker of light,
A lantern was swinging, just barely in sight.
"That's him!" Marcie whispered, her voice full of cheer,
"We'll sneak up behind him, we've nothing to fear!"
But as they got closer, the lantern went out,
And the darkness around them made them both doubt.
The wind howled louder, the branches did creak,
But Marcie and Hinckley, they didn't feel weak.
For they knew in their hearts, though the night was so deep,
Their courage would guide them, and fears they would keep.
They tiptoed in silence, the night holding its breath,
When suddenly, from the trees, came a voice like a breath.
"Who's there in the night, creeping so sly?"
The robber called out with a gleam in his eye.
Marcie and Hinckley, they froze on the spot,
But Marcie stepped forward, afraid she was not.
"We're here to stop you, from your sneaky spree,
You can't scare us away, we're as brave as can be!"
The robber, surprised by their fearless display,
Laughed softly and said, "Well, what can I say?
I’m not here to steal, I’ve come for a fright,
I love spooky stories and tales of the night."
Hinckley stepped forward, his courage now high,
"Then why not join us, no need to be sly.
We can share our tales under the moon’s silver glow,
And together we'll make this night one to show."
So they sat in the forest, beneath the tall trees,
Telling stories of ghosts that sailed on the breeze.
The robber, once sneaky, now joined in their fun,
And together they laughed until the rise of the sun.
And when morning broke with the dawn’s gentle light,
The three new friends smiled, remembering the night.
For the scariest things are not what they seem,
And sometimes a robber just wants to redeem.
So if you hear whispers on a dark stormy eve,
Remember brave Marcie and Hinckley, believe!
For even in darkness, where shadows may creep,
There’s always adventure, and memories to keep.
