One sunny afternoon, Marcie was at home, finishing her favorite storybook, when she heard a soft knock on the door. She opened it and, to her surprise, found the Numberblocks standing on her doorstep, each one beaming with excitement.
"Hello, Marcie!" said Numberblock 1 with a big smile. "We thought we'd come visit you today!"
"Oh, wow! This is the best surprise ever!" Marcie cheered. She welcomed them in, and each of the Numberblocks filed inside, looking around with curiosity.
Inside the cozy living room, Marcie had laid out all sorts of games and activities. "Welcome to my house! We can play whatever you'd like," she said.
Numberblock 2 was the first to explore. He spotted a stack of colorful building blocks and started stacking them in pairs. "I love making things in twos!" he exclaimed as he built two towers side by side.
Next, Numberblock 3 found Marcie's collection of toy cars and decided to line them up in groups of three. "Look, Marcie! I'm making a traffic jam of threes!" she giggled, placing three cars in a row, then another set of three, and so on.
Numberblock 4 discovered Marcie's collection of puzzles. "Ooh, I can make squares!" he said, arranging the puzzle pieces into little squares, counting, "One, two, three, four!" for each square he completed.
Meanwhile, Numberblocks 5 and 10 decided to help Marcie in the kitchen. "How about we bake something?" Marcie suggested, and the Numberblocks agreed.
They all put on aprons, and Marcie gave Numberblock 5 the task of measuring flour. "I'll measure in fives!" she said proudly, scooping out flour in little piles of five.
Numberblock 10 measured the sugar, counting, "Ten, twenty, thirty…," filling up the bowl with just the right amount.
Once the batter was mixed and the cookies were in the oven, the Numberblocks moved to the backyard to play while they waited for the treats to bake.
In the yard, Marcie had set up a little obstacle course. "Let's see if we can make it across!" she said. The Numberblocks lined up, ready for the challenge.
Numberblock 6 hopped along the stepping stones in two groups of three, chanting, "Three and three make six!"
Numberblock 8 rolled down the grassy hill, making squares as he went, laughing, "Four and four make eight!"
Finally, Numberblock 9 did a little dance with Marcie, spinning in groups of threes. "Three, six, nine!" they chanted together, swirling and laughing.
Just as they finished their dance, they heard a loud knock on Marcie's door. "Who could that be?" she wondered, hurrying to the door.
Marcie opened it and saw a big, cheerful Numberblock with three rows of nine squares. It was Numberblock 27!
"Hello, everyone!" said 27 with a big smile. "I heard there was a party and thought I'd join!"
The other Numberblocks cheered. "27!" they shouted. "Perfect timing!"
Numberblock 27 beamed, "I love to multiply and divide—especially by three! Is there any counting I can help with?"
Marcie smiled. "You've come just in time for cookies! We baked 27 of them just now!" Marcie, 27, and the rest of the Numberblocks rushed to the kitchen, where the freshly baked cookies were cooling on a tray.
With everyone seated, they decided to divide the cookies fairly. "Let's count by threes," suggested Numberblock 3.
They counted, "Three, six, nine, twelve," all the way up to 27, giving each Numberblock and Marcie three delicious cookies.
After their snack, Marcie and the Numberblocks spent the rest of the day playing games, solving puzzles, and creating new ways to count.
By the end of the day, Marcie gave each Numberblock a hug as they headed out. "Thanks for visiting! I can't wait to have you all over again!" she said.
As the sun set, Marcie waved goodbye to her friends, feeling grateful for such a fun day full of numbers and friendship.
